Guest Post: Rainbow Ruffians with Lumosnails
I have another wonderful guest poster today, @lumosnails!
When I saw Amber from NailsLikeLace was looking for Guest Blogger, I was really excited to be given an opportunity. Then I scrolled through her blog and saw she also loves colour almost as much as I do! One of my favourite manis by her is The Digit-al Dozen dozen Neon: Day 4 - Dark Daisy Color Block. So simple, so beautiful! Which is why, for this guest post, I decided to recreate a design I saw by the amazing Miriam from @xnailsbymiri: Golden Ruffian on Bright Colors.
To start things off, I chose 5 different colours: Maybelline New York's Blue Berry Ice, Tangerine Treat, Blackcurrant Pop, Coral Craze and Bold Gold from their Color Show range and Turquoise Lagoon from the Maybelline New York Express Finish 40-second dry range. Once I applied them on my fingers, I couldn't stop staring at my hands. So much colour. So pretty! See?

Salon Effects Ruffian
If you're like me, you easily get bored with the same ole, same ole. I wanted to wear a set of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Tweed-le Dee, but wanted to do something different with them. So I got into my untrieds box and randomly pulled out Milani Beach Front to wear along with them.

Halloween Ruffian
The ultimate, most traditional Halloween colors are black and orange, right? I love Ruffian manis, do I not? Textured polishes are one of my favorite nail trends, no? Especially the Pixie Dusts, yes?
Well I realized that I just so happened to have a black Pixie Dust (Dahlia) and an orange Pixie Dust (Dhara). So of course I had to ruffian them for the holiday!!

IG Collab Manis - Creme and Holo Splatter, Watermelons, and Halloween Bat Tip Nails [Part 1/4]
I did a collab mani quite a while ago with @nailsandthings_ on Instagram. We decided on holo splatter, but with a twist.
We did a black creme background, splattered with Color Club Cloud Nine, Kismet, and Cosmic Fate, then over Color Club Beyond, splattered matching cremes!

Sounds Like a 1970s Dream
Remember when I showed you my franken, Dragon Puffs, layered over Zoya Savita, at the beginning of the month, and it was a complete disaster?
Well, I found two polishes that I love as underwear for it! I actually couldn't decide which I liked more, so I figured I'd showcase them both at once in the form of a ruffian.
I know, I know... Ruffians are supposed to have a metallic at the cuticle. Yet again, another distinction that I don't really care about. In fact, I looked. I found no official "rules" stating a ruffian manicure must use a metallic polish. So I'm not that worried about it.
Anyway, I used China Glaze Wicked Style (pink) and Gothic Lolita (purple). I love Dragon Puffs over Gothic Lolita because it is a very close match to the base color of the franken. I like it over Wicked Style for reasons unknown. Even though it takes away from the purple of the franken, I just plain like it, and that's all the reason I need! ^.^
So I started out with the ruffian, switching the colors as an accent:

Rubbery Ruffian
Today I have Mod Mauve to show you. This one is very unique to my collection. It has an almost rubbery, semi-matte finish and I actually like it a lot! This was another surprising 1-coater, so for $1, I approve! =D

Quick! Chain up Your Limes!
As with the last one, I free-handed it instead of using french tip guide stickers like I did on the first one. I used one coat of Kleancolor Metallic Aqua as the base and two coats of Sally Hansen Grass Slipper on top of that, then stamped with some dark metal color from L.A. Colors and plate BM12. I later decided to add a line (I was bored and had nothing better to do), dividing the blue and green with a cheapo Nail Star pen from eBay that matched the L.A. Colors grey.

Someone Put a Ruffian in My Orange Juice
I love love loved my first Ruffian design so much that I immediately started coming up with other color combinations! The only metallics I have are silver, blue and pink. So I got the idea to franken a purple metallic and used it for this mani, along with Kleancolor Pastel Orange. Although, after I finished these nails, I'm not so sure that the orange was the best choice. =P I had been debating between it and a light green, but it looked better on paper with the purple; the green looked more Springish than I wanted. Oh well.

Umm, You Spilled Some Melted Dimes on My Hand, Sir
The title? Don't ask. After 4 hours in a small, closed room with lacquer fumes, this is what my brain comes up with. I looked at my nails and thought "hey that's almost a skin color", then looked again and said "Pumping Iron? WTF did they name it Pumping Iron for? It looks more like melted silver coins to me!". Alas... either I need sleep, or I need to open a window! =P
The nails? Well, I recently saw a cute manicure on ChitChat Nails, which you can see here (they are significantly better than mine, but I am okay with that), and I liked it so much that I had to try it out for myself! It is called a Ruffian Manicure.
