July Favorites

For this month, my favorite manis that I did are:

#3 Interconnecting Dots
I do wish these had turned out better than they did, but I loved the look of this design! I may have to try them again in the future!

#2 What a Hoot - Owls in Bright Orange

I have been loving owls lately, for some reason and had been meaning to try owl nails for some time. So I figured, what better way to show off a swatch of a new polish I'd bought! ^.^

Finger Paints - Tough Art to Follow

Another cuticle flooder, but opaque in 3 coats, and it dried really fast! I've been really loving foresty greens like this one, lately!

Finger Paints - Bauhaus Burgundy

This one was quite the cuticle flooder if I wasn't careful. It was pretty runny, but only took two thin coats for opacity, dried really quickly, and with quite a bit a natural shine. Plus, it is a really beautiful color! Nothing out of the ordinary, but I don't own many vampys, so it's original to my collection.

Furry Friday - Sydnie

Why is it Sydnie and not Sidney, you ask? I just like the first spelling better. =P I actually didn't name her. If I had, I would definitely not have picked the name, anyway. My mom got her when I was in high school from a couple who had her listed in the newspaper. Actually, I think rescued would be a better word. They had this poor girl locked in the dark basement, all alone 24/7 (and they had a Min Pin that they kept locked in a pet carrier, alas, her story must wait until a future installment of Furry Friday). She never knew what it was like to be loved on, but now she can't get enough of it!! ^.^

Coming from where she did, Sydnie wasn't used to being able to do whatever she wanted and with my mom working all day and her being home alone, she liked to chew stuff up. Which is actually strange because ever since, for 5 years, she's lived with me and I have never had her chew up a single thing. She's never gotten into the trash or anything. So I really have no clue why she was doing it at my mom's.

Polish Memes

I found these pretty amusing and decided they were worthy of being added to my Polish Memes page! ^.^

Wednesday is Teal-y Cool

Zoya Wednesday would have been perfect in two thin coats, but apparently I was not in the painting zone because I'd missed multiple spots on multiple nails. I had to add a third, but it didn't matter, anyway, because I slathered on a coat of Sally Hansen Teal-y Cool, and threw on some fimo stars for the fun of it.

Interconnecting Dots

This seems to be a fairly popular look on Instagram lately, and I really loved it the first time I saw it, so I figured I would give it a go! ^.^

I used Wet'n'Wild Blazed, a beautiful coral-orange jelly, and Sally Hansen Grass Slipper.

Christmas in July

I haven't entered a nail art contest in a long time, but I came across one over at Jen's Nail Files with the theme of Christmas in July. Immediately, palm trees came to mind. Considering I love doing palm trees (this is my fourth mani with them), and I really liked the french manicure of Christmas presents that I did last year, I thought a combo of the two would be perfect!

So for this design, I applied:
  1. 1 coat Beauty Secrets base coat
  2. Gradient in purple, blue, and tan - Julep Charlotte, Julep Daphne & Orly Coffee Break
  3. Sponged on top of blue and tan for shimmer - Pure ICE Splash & China Glaze Mega Bite
  4. The art (with soley an itty bitty dotting tool) - first I put down the general shape/backgroud/outline with a plain black and added:
    • Palm tree:
      • trunk - Orly Coffee Break
      • leaves - A swirl of Sally Hansen Grass Slipper, Sally Hansen Fairy Teal, and a scented green apple Blow Pop mini polish
    • Presents:
      • All the colors used, in no particular order, Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue, Grass Slipper, Fairy Teal, Zoya Savita (purple), Julep Sasha, Charlotte, Lauren, Rose, Daisy, Lily, Robin, Orly Blue Collar, Sinful Colors Gogo Girl & Finger Paints Laugh My Art Off
    • Snowman:
      1. body - Orly Coffee Break with China Glaze Mega Bite on top (arms are just Coffee Break alone)
      2. nose - Julep Sasha
      3. eyes, hat, coal buttons - L.A. Colors Art Deco Black with a strip of a nameless green Nail Star art polish on the hat
  5. Topcoat - 2 coats Sally Hansen Inta-Dri
^Yeesh that's a lot of polish!^

Super Simple Wedding Nails in Purple

For the wedding I was in this past weekend, I wanted something simple, but fast, that wasn't plain since I was doing everyone else's nails (6 others), too.

I went with Zoya Savita since mattes dry quick and it was a good match to the wedding colors. Then added a dot (instead of a rhinestone, since topcoat always ruins the look of them) with an L.A. Colors glitter that I've lost the name to because they fail and don't like to put the names on their bottles.

What a Hoot! - Owls in Bright Orange

I recently bought Sally Hansen Orange Impulse just because it was on clearance, I don't own many oranges, so I figured I might as well get it.

I decided I wanted to swatch it, but I am terrible at leaving well enough alone, so I wanted to also do some sort of nail art.

China Glaze Mega Bite, Wet'n'Wild Blue Moon, and some white acrylic paint helped me out in creating these adorable little owls!

From the Vault - I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream

Sooo... I am debating forgetting about doing From the Vault posts. For multiple reasons.

One, all old designs that I show are either really crappy in my application or lack of cleanup, and therefore are disgusting, and should be seen by no eyes other than my own... and even that is a stretch!

As well, previously, all I had to take pictures with was a digital camera that wouldn't focus to pick up detail on anything small, or one of the original iPhones with terrible cameras! So the photography is equally as craptastic, blurry, out of focus, and awful.

PLUS, I consider "from the vault" to be at least 6 months old. I don't have many looks that I do and don't post. If so, they're fails and I end up just getting rid of them, anyway. Or they're swatches. Which is why I am, instead, dabbling with the idea of dedicating one day per week, or per month, to a swatch post.

Any thoughts?

Martinis for the Bachelorette

So I went to my B.F.F.F.F.F.F. of almost 2 decades' bachelorette party over the weekend, and decided I had to do special nails for it! ^.^
