Retro Stripes

Surprisingly, this is the first ever striped mani that I have done! I guess I have always been a little afraid of them and my inability to make straight lines. I could use tape, but that would take forever. So I decided to just go at it with a striping brush!

It was inspired by a big, plastic box I got to store all my nail accessory junk in; brushes, rhinestones, dotting tools, and all that sort of stuff.

My colors aren't spot-on, but I just used what I had.

The pink is Rimmel London English Rose, the green is Zoya Dree, the yellow is Sally Girl Banana, the light blue is Kleancolor Pastel Teal, the darker teal is Julep Robin, and the dark blue is Sally Hansen Navy Baby. Then I added a few pieces of silver striping tape here and there.

I was going to leave the background of my nails plain to better replicate the box, but decided to just have all the lines touching, and used Banana as a base, then did all of the other colors on top of it, instead. Which is why I added the striping tape to simulate a sort of small, blank area in random places.

I do like how it turned out, especially being my first striped mani, but I think I like the design a little better on the box as opposed to on my nails! ^.^

The shine off of the striping tape kept messing with the focus on my camera or something because I couldn't get decent sun pictures for anything!! I'm not too worried about it, though, because this came off almost immediately afterwards. I just didn't like it as much as I'd hoped to.
