August Favorites

My top 3 for this month were a little harder to narrow down, but here are the ones that made the cut!:

Baby Shower Rubber Ducky Nails

I had my baby shower the other day. Can't believe it's already come time for that!

It was a blast, but oh did it ever wear me out! ^.^

Anyway, I just wanted to quickly share with you the nails I did for the shower that I got a ton of compliments on!

China Glaze - Mahogany Magic

This milk chocolatey goodness was absolutely wonderful in every way! It's like a Hershey's-filled heaven! It was nice and opaque in one thin coat with average dry time. It does look a little streaky in the pictures, but didn't look that way in person!

Colorblind Leopard/Cheetah - Stamping on Sponging in Black, White and Grey - a Video Tutorial

I did these nails quite a while ago, but wanted to include the tutorial with them, and it took me a century to get it all done! Here they are now, though! ^.^

Any Suggestions?

Have you seen Zoya's Back-to-School BOGO promotion? I skipped my polish box subscription this month specifically so I could put the extra $20 towards this, but I just can't decide and narrow it down to 6!

Though I am not a fan of yellows, Pippa has been on my wish list forever, so I am going to go ahead and grab that one. I'm debating on Song and Apple, too, but it is so hard to choose the others!

Avon - Fuchsia Fun

This one was just a little bit of a disappointment. Fuchsia Fun is showing more hot pink (in the first picture, the second is better) than it really is. It is calmer, and there is slightly more of purple tone to it. Plus, there is a teeny bit of a purple/pink shimmer that shows just fine in the bottle, but hardly at all on the nail; however, it only took 2 coats for opacity. The first coat was streaky and splotchy, but, being a jelly, was really easy to control, although it was a little on the thicker side. It isn't really noticable in the pictures, but it did bubble some, and there is just an inkling of VNL. It is still a beautiful color that dried nice and smooth with plenty of its own sleek shine, but I think it would work better as a topper for something else.

Furry Friday - New Puppies

These cute faces are 5 weeks old today! We've given them all away except one, and I just don't know if I can let his adorableness go! ^.^

The only girl of the bunch, and the biggest bully!

Quince de Creatividad - Stamping Plate Solution

I haven't done one of these posts in a while. If you follow me on Instagram, though, then you may already be aware of my genius that is the ultimate solution for stamping plates! If not, allow me to explain...

For one, I hate how my plates always slide around in my album, and when I am trying to use them. Two, if you have a husband like mine, every time he picks up the stamping plate book, or even thinks about it, for that matter, it is upside down and they're all on the floor. I know I hate rearranging and putting almost 100 plates back into their sleeves!

Versatile Blogger Award

I was given the Versatile Blogger Award a little while ago by the lovey lady who runs Oh Three Oh Four. Thanks so much to Dulcie for thinking of me and passing it on!

Puzzle Piece Nails

I have seen puzzle piece nails all over the place and I just love how they look, they're too cute!

They were actually really easy to do. Easier than I thought they'd be anyway. Just four squares and four dots.

Retro Stripes

Surprisingly, this is the first ever striped mani that I have done! I guess I have always been a little afraid of them and my inability to make straight lines. I could use tape, but that would take forever. So I decided to just go at it with a striping brush!

It was inspired by a big, plastic box I got to store all my nail accessory junk in; brushes, rhinestones, dotting tools, and all that sort of stuff.

Sally Girl - Banana

So I picked this polish up off the clearance rack. I figured it's yellow, it's ugly, but it's a whole .69 cents, so why not.

Then I looked at the receipt and saw it had a name. Odd, I've never seen a Sally Girl mini polish with a name on it.

So then I peeled off the huge clearance sticker that took up most of the bottle, and saw that it had a little tab on it with its name "Banana".

First of all, is Sally Beauty now naming their teeny polishes? Because that would be great. I hate brands that don't name their polishes!

Liebster Blog Award

I was tagged yesterday by Adventures and Mishaps in the Land of Polish for the Liebster Blog Award. Thank you so much for thinking of me!

I do already have this award, but it is the older version. So since I was tagged for the revamped award, I figured I'd do a post on it.

The rules for this award are:
  1. Each person tagged much post 11 things about themselves.
  2. They must also answer the 11 questions the 'tagger' has set for them.
  3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.
  4. They must then choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and tag them in their post.
  5. These lucky bloggers must then be told.
  6. There're no tag backs.

Teal Toes for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Don't worry, you will not be seeing my feet in this post! In fact, I can hardly even see them myself at this point, so I went with fingers instead!

Teal Toes is an ovarian cancer awareness website, and the idea for raising awareness is to paint your nails teal in August Septmeber (I swore it was August, but apparently I was wrong. It is okay, I guess I'm just a month early! ^.^).

Interconnecting Dots Video Tutorial

Yesterday, Joy from Drugstore Junkie requested a tutorial for a design that has been popular lately. Some call it gradient dots, I call them interconnecting dots simply because I can't think of a better name for them.

I have no clue where this original design came from, it just popped up all over Instagram and I loved it! It is fairly easy to accomplish, and the outcome looks really neat!

For said nails, besides your favorite base/topcoat, you only need three items:
A dotting tool. I prefer the larger one, but you can do the dots in any size you like, and two one-coater polishes that are opaque or nearly opaque in just one coat. I used L'Oreal's Greycian Goddess and Zoya's Reagan.
